- History of
Mosler Automotive
Consulier GTP
Warren Mosler began building the
Consulier GTP in 1985. The original Consulier was powered by a 190hp Chrysler 2.2L Turbocharged motor.
Mounted in the middle of the car, the motor supplied power to the rear wheels. The
Consulier
weighed approx. 2200 lbs. and recorded 0-60 times of 4.9 seconds in the hands of
independent testers.
The Consulier was so quick that Warren Mosler
issued the following challenge:
'Anyone who could lap an eligible racetrack faster than a Consulier in
a U.S. street legal production car would go home $100,000 richer'.
No one collected.

In 1993 Consulier became Mosler
Automotive. The company released a new model called the Intruder powered by a 440 hp
Chevrolet LT-1 V8 and weighing in at 2600lbs.
The Intruder had the fastest
acceleration of any car manufactured by a U.S. manufacturer with 0-60
times of 3.5
seconds!
During 1997 Mosler Automotive introduced the innovative
v-windshield concept into the car and renamed it the Raptor. The split windshield reduced lap times
as much as a full second by reducing aerodynamic drag. These innovations and
Mosler Automotive's
dedication to the low-weight/high-power automotive philosophy have
netted it numerous race victories and track records - the most publicized being
the Intruder and Raptor's triple wins at the prestigious 'One Lap of America'
event (more than any other
car)
